A new fact has emerged after the indictment of Flamengo striker Bruno Henrique. This is because the club held a talk with all the players in the professional squad at Ninho do Urubu to warn and provide guidance on sports integrity, doping and disciplinary issues.
The lecture took place on March 27, 20 days before the player was indicted. The information was released by the GE portal and, according to Marcos Motta, lawyer and vice president of administration, when the lecture took place the club’s management’s objective was to make the subject more accessible to the athletes and the coaching staff.
“The idea was to talk to the professional team and the technical committee on the principle of what we call ongoing education. Athletes have to be aware of these issues that are so present in the day-to-day life of professional and amateur football today.”
“Issues involving sports integrity, sports betting, doping cases and disciplinary issues. So our idea was to clarify some of these points with some practical, clear, real examples of what happens on a daily basis in sports courts so that it is a preventive issue and not a reactive one once the case has already been consummated,” said Marcos Motta.

In addition to Motta, the club’s vice president of general and legal affairs, Flávio Willeman, and lawyer Michel Assef Filho also attended the talk. According to reports, Bruno Henrique was present at the meeting, which lasted about 50 minutes and the players were able to interact and ask questions.
Flamengo promises rigor
Furthermore, Flamengo aims to be stricter in cases of this type. The new code of conduct takes into account principles already provided for in contracts that will be adopted, and the links will protect the club in case of damage to its image.
However, without a conviction yet, the board is awaiting the end of the process and should not take any measures at this time related to Bruno Henrique. The striker is listed for this Wednesday’s match against Juventude, at 9:30 pm (Brasília time) at Maracanã, for the fourth round of the Brasileirão.
Bruno Henrique case
The Office of the Attorney General of the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) requested the Federal Police (PF) to share the complete report and evidence relating to the case of Flamengo striker Bruno Henrique.
The player was indicted by the PF for allegedly forcing a yellow card during a match against Santos for the 2023 Brazilian Championship, with the aim of benefiting bettors.
Bruno Henrique and his brother Wander face charges under Article 200 of the General Sports Law, which prohibits fraud in sports competitions. Consequently, they could receive sentences of two to six years in prison, in addition to being charged with fraud, with a sentence of one to five years.
