The rapporteur of the CPI, Soraya Thronicke (Podemos-MS), requested the arrest of the businessman. The chairman of the committee, Senator Dr. Hiran (PP-RR), accepted the request.

Soraya Thronicke stated: “I will ask for your forgiveness here, but, Mr. Daniel Pardim Tavares Lima, you are under arrest. You and your lawyers will be able to explain in a habeas corpus [HC].”

Pardim’s lawyer, Lucas Monteiro Faria, accused the parliamentarian of abuse of authority and denied that the businessman had lied. Lucas Monteiro Faria stated: “I would just like to see the lie he told here justified. There was no lie at all.”

Dr. Hiran suspended the committee’s work for five minutes to evaluate the rapporteur’s request. After the break, the parliamentarian confirmed the decision. “In view of this request for arrest in flagrante delicto, I request the Senate Legislative Police to take the necessary steps to draw up the arrest report.”

The senator ordered the coercive conduct of Adélia de Jesus Soares, lawyer and partner of Daniel Pardim, to testify at the CPI. She did not appear at the session on Tuesday, even after being summoned.

Bets CPI rapporteur gives interview to TV Senado

After the meeting, in an interview with TV Senado, Soraya Thronicke commented that it was the businessman’s duty, as a witness, to tell the truth in everything that did not incriminate him.

Soraya Thronicke explained: “He started by lying that he didn’t know his partners. Imagine, no one forms a company that you don’t call, or don’t know. What we think is that he is a so-called ‘front man’. He lied more than three or four times and we gave him the chance, we asked him several times.”

Peach Blossom River Technology, a partner of Payflow, operates in the digital payments sector, in addition to providing services to online bookmakers, according to the rapporteur. Payflow is under investigation by the Civil Police of the Federal District, on suspicion of money laundering and irregular transfers.
