State lotteries marked the beginning of Hebara and Amilton Noble‘s journey in the gaming industry. In an interview given during BiS SiGMA Americas, he recalled this journey and highlighted the benefits that regulating the sector can bring to Brazil.
“We were operators of LOTERJ (Rio de Janeiro State Lottery) for many years, and this gave us a very important background. We fought hard so that the states would have the recognized right to operate their lotteries,” he said.
He added: “I have a very clear vision of the complementary actions of the states and the Union. Our common enemy is one: unregulated gambling. All spheres of regulation are valid, as long as they respect the rules and limits of action of each entity. We view this action very favorably, especially if it is collaborative.”
Noble defends the legalization of casinos in Brazil
A great defender of the regulated industry, Noble recalled the time, resources and jobs lost due to the delay in legalizing land-based casinos.
“The bill has been in the Legislature for 34 years. It is absurd that we do not view the gaming industry as it should be treated. As an advocate for all regulated verticals, I really hope this happens in the first half of the year,” he said.
The Hebara executive also commented on the progress of the Casinos Bill. According to him, the rapporteur of the proposal, Senator Irajá, indicated that there is a prospect of voting this semester.
“This will do the country a lot of good. The market only wants one thing: clear rules and opportunities to work. We need to make society aware of how important this segment is for the economy, for generating jobs and taxes,” he concluded.
