GambleAware has published its betting industry donor list for the first quarter of 2021, revealing that Entain was the top contributor with a €2 million donation.

The company currently requires all licensed operators to donate around 0.1% of their gross annual gaming income directly to GambleAware, while companies with an annual gross gaming income of less than £250,000 per year are required to donate a minimum of £ 250.

In publishing its report, the independent institution announced that voluntary industry donations – ie those made outside the 0.1% GGR requirement – totaled £2.3 million, of which £2 million came from Ladbrokes and the operator Coral Entain.

In addition to Entain, other major UK licensed operators who have donated significant amounts include Videoslots at £50,000, One Click at £22,800.91, STS BET at £22,000 and Star Racing at £20,720.27.

Meanwhile, SkillOnNet donated £11,000 and Play’n GO contributed £9,750, while BetVictor, Mansion Europe Holdings and Novomatic AG made donations of £65,000, £10,000 and £5,000 respectively.

GambleAware’s Largest Donors

The 2021 first quarter giving report differs greatly from the 2020 first quarter results of GambleAware, which singled out Flutter Entertainment (Paddy Power, Betfair) and William Hill as the top donors of £874,000 and £540,000 each.

The list of donations and pledges for 2021/22 received by June 30, 2021 is included in the report; any submitted after the publication date will be the next update, scheduled for October 2021.

In addition, only donations and pledges made directly to the institution are included in the report, but operators can choose to donate to another organization or initiative instead of, or in addition to, GambleAware.

In addition, UK regulations also state that licensed operators may offer donations to socially responsible causes as part of a regulatory agreement with the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC).
