Colossus Bets became the main sponsor of the Greyhound Grand National after closing a significant deal.
This year’s edition of the Grand National was threatened with the race’s venue, Central Park, admitting that it was at risk of not being held after a potential partner gave up due to the lack of permission for fans to participate in the competition.
But the bookmaker now stands as a supporter of the event to ensure that the race takes place. Colossus Bets CEO Bernard Marantelli said: “I love greyhound racing – my family has been betting on this for 50 years – and I want to see the segment thrive.”
Marantelli also stated that “we have a series of plans for the sport and this is the most recent. Hurdles can be fun and a real spectacle ”.
The new batteries, renamed Colossus Bets 2020 Grand National, will take place over 480 meters of hurdles on October 25th. While the final date is set for November 8. The race winner will take home around £ 7,500.
Central Park promoter Roger Cearns added: “It has been an unprecedented year and the pressure on track owners is immense. We are actively looking for a sponsor for the Grand National and are very pleased with the return of Colossus Bets after a successful sponsorship of Kent Silver Salve. ”
